Being suspended in a web of anticipation

Waiting for small vibrations along a tread

Is a spider of information moving towards me

Bringing knowledge i am loved

Spiders do not bring answers

They bring paralysis

So that the fluids of life

can be slowly sucked

From one’s fearful soul

I easily extricate myself

I am emancipated

With simple wisdom

Gained with tiny footsteps

Over the path of time

Life’s enchantment is rewarded

Not by being loved

But by loving

Anticipation:

An insane,

furious,

curious,

aggrivating,

frustrating,

all-consuming

24/7 walk

on a bed of nails

to an innocent boy

who doesn't want to be

innocent

anymore.

This brings back memories from more than half a century ago. Thank you for reminding me, Chuck.

I was thinking/hoping there might be some boys out there that could relate. 🙂🙂

In the year

of Medicare enrollment

there is yet

somehow

a feeling

that life

is turning

toward a season

of theo-poetic

awakening.

Hope cracks through like

the first twinges of dawn color.

You have to be watching for it,

anticipating it, maybe you even

look twice or nudge a friend to

make sure it is real.

…and how needed as breath and water is that winged thing called hope. Thank you for this lovely word picture, Mary Beth.

My thoughts on anticipation are a bit scattered and in an attempt to resist the idea that I could write about anticipation being better than the thing itself, I decided to give myself the structure of an acrostic..

Anticipation

An act

Now

That looks forward

Into

Coming moments

Inviting

Participation

Acknowledging

Things to come

Increasing excitement

Overwhelming anticipation, right

Now for all that lies ahead

I really needed this today— thank you!

I wrote poems for both today and for day four, but they both ended up being too personal to post publicly. Writing them was really cathartic, though, so thank you for inspiring them. <3

Anticipation

Waiting is hard,

Except when it isn’t.

“Hope deferred makes the heart sad”, but sometimes procrastination is my

friend.

Sometimes I want to keep tomorrow

at bay.

I’m often afraid

that anticipation trumps reality.

Maybe I’ll just wait and see,

While trying to remember to breathe.

Anticipation Is My Favorite

I love that moment on a stage

just before the lights go up

breath suspended

ready

magic swelling in the pause

the beat just before laughter

when the joke lands in silent splendor

crackling with explosive energy

the iridescent shine

on the skin of a bubble

the moment before Creation,

God's finger a millimeter from

bursting.

Spiritual writing group recently wrote on topic of “Waiting” and that seems close enough to this topic so I’ll share what I penned:

The Dhalia waits to bloom

The acorn waits to sprout

So why do we get lost

While hurrying all about?

The Catepillar waits

To become a Monarch

Just as the mighty Sun waits

To lighten up the dark

The Lotus waits

While Embracing the Mud

The Fern never frets

About Popping her Bud

The tadpole waits

To become a toad

When we learn to wait

We lighten our load

Let us meditate

On how the tiny seed becomes a fruit

And allow our own gentle nature

To patiently follow suit

If we can learn to wait

For all the traffic lights

We can certainly learn to wait

For God’s majestic Heights

I love that phrase "gorgeous belonging." Such a lovely poem. I feel that tension of the now and the not yet.
