Haha, thanks! It was a reference to a Tumblr post where someone said that they don't realize they have seasonal depression until the sun comes out and they "feel like I've taken a party drug." I can relate. ;)
I like this Steven. Thank you for the reminder that we need the full cycle of the earth rhythms, shadows and light, darkness and day...Here in seacoast New Hampshire, we are in a several days of rain period, grateful for the green. the flowers that will bloom, the gardens, springs, wells, lakes and rivers that will prosper, and for for the holy water of life raining down!
For things to remain as they are, whether hidden in plain sight or
Tucked into dim corners.
It is a beautiful day they say. The sun is shining. The sky is blue.
Open the blinds they say. Let the sunlight in.
But if I do, I risk them seeing it all. I risk myself seeing it all.
The scars on the wood, the blemishes on the leather, the dust on the floor.
She does her job so well, the sunlight....illuminating all of the things I would like to hide. She lays them bare and says here, this is the problem, if you cannot see it how can you fix it?
She means well, the sunlight, but this is not the day for illlumination, examination and reflection. So I thank her but close the blinds and send her on her way.
Beautiful! I love the repetition at the end. Here’s mine (written on a sunny day after a lot of cloudy ones):
.
My party drug
My life-is-worth-living draught of
gold
My crack-my-withered-heart-open medicine,
life,
sustaining,
cracking the clouds like eggshells:
I can finally breathe.
So, so, so good! You wrote what was in my heart.
So wonderful, I felt I was breathing free reading this. Thank you!
Aw, thanks!
I love the "party drug" reference. Very nice, Lisa!

I like that description, and empathize so much living in place that can be cloudy and grey for stretches.
sunlight
a reminder that
we have made it to
another day
what a blessing
to feel your
warm rays
touch our skin
but not for too long
a reminder to
too much sunlight
is detrimental
a curse of sorts
the lesson we should learn
be in awe and grateful
for the sunlight
but we must be aware
that we need shade
as well
thank you sunlight

Here
We yearn
Under stratus clouds
Gray cozy heft
Blankets our lives
Here
We’re awed
By water color clouds
Purple marbled
And sockeye red
Here
We revel!
And Praise the brazen sun
Incandescent,
Satiated
I love "gray cozy heft" that's so descriptive and beautiful!
I love the descriptive imagery.
Ah, this feels right. I have no other words to describe how I felt reading this 😊
This is wonderful Sarah! This is so rich and full, evocative and vibrant in its imagery and depth!
Sunlight
The elusive wanting of you
The waiting for you
wondering if you will come
There is joy in your presence
A lightness of being
The days when I don’t see you
leave me yearning
Aching for you
Sometimes I see you from afar
Wisps of the essence of you
That remind me
You don’t belong to me
This is beautiful Donna. Thank you!
Thank you Larry!
You are welcome Donna!
wake up each morning
turn your face, your life toward
generous sunlight
Sunlight
MIA in M-I today
Summer soon?
Sunlight
Dappling through tree leaves
Leaving a leopard print
On my floor
Warmth
Rising as the day grows older
Leaving a rosy pink hue
On my babies’ cheeks
Energy
Refilling the spaces in my being
Leaving paths of accomplishment
Through my home
Summer
Removing the veil of hibernation
Leaving winter a memory
In my renewed mind
This absorbs me, Aleesha! Thank you for sharing.
"Dappling through tree leaves" spoke to me!!
Sunlight
When I came out of the shadows,
a long road through deep darkness
I looked up and saw your face.
Bright shining in the sunlight
Alive in its beauty,
a sunlight that comes after
all hope is lost.
Resurrected in light,
I cried,
not out of sadness or despair,
but in joy.
I knew I was home.
The Trees are my friends
The Rain is my cleanse
The Sky gets me high
The Dirt shows me why
The Birds visit
The Feeder sways
They might hum a tune
As the Butterfly plays
This makes me smile.
The Birds visit
The Feeder sways
They might hum a tune
As the Butterfly plays
Thank you. I penned that a few months ago and after I saw Kaitlin’s work this morning I was reminded of it. So honored to share it here
Sunlight
When
I lay
In the sun.
I am
Alive
Again.
For a while.
(even my cat knows this truth) ;)
What the Sunlight Reveals
The room is cool, dark, peaceful and I am content
For things to remain as they are, whether hidden in plain sight or
Tucked into dim corners.

Open the blinds they say. Let the sunlight in.

This is splendid Karri. I like the notion of letting the light exposes thiings we might not want to see.
This is wonderful. Important medicine. Thank you so much!
The greatest power source I know
He energizes me all day long
When He disappears behind the clouds
My motivation begins to slumber
I love the light of Sister Moon
She mystifies my innermost soul
But there is nothing like the Great Sun
To awaken me to the many possibilities
That lie within any moment of any day
Sunlight
Warmth to my bones
Lifter of my face
Lifter of heart
Lifter of the corners of my mouth
Creator of my best wrinkles
Sunlight is a smile from the sky after a long dreary winter.
on the rare
blue sky,
sun drunk day
in the middle of january
I slink around
the house chasing
each precious,
golden
slice of
heaven -
always craving
more.
Beautiful poem :) I wrote two today. Here's one.
Sunlight
I turn to nature,
Smiling, shimmering, shining,
Building myself brick by brick,
Word by word,
I just want to set myself free,
Run in the grass,
Soft kisses down my back
I twist and then I laugh,
I permeate all things,
I am
Everywhere
And everywhere
I am
All things
I permeate
Then I laugh
And I twist
Soft kisses
In the grass
Run free
Word by word
Brick by brick
Smiling,
I just want to turn to
Nature
Everywhere
I am
All things
Permeate
This is wonderful Jillian. I love the joy in these lines.
Thank you so much, Larry :)
Sunlight
It can be held in your hand.
Peel back to mist your fingernails
and notice the sunlight lines,
bright veins that pulse
like the waterfront,
calling up cravings
for cold food.
