Thank you for this wonderful offering. It amazes me, what you write and share always seem to connect right with what is happening in my klife. I just got off a Spiritual Direction session and was encouraged to reflect on the notion of how I handle (or not) my own care. It came to me that I spend so much time creating and holding space for others, I often give short shrift to my own. I often create a barrier where I think it has to look or be a certain way, and failing that, just don't take their time. Your writing helps me to find the way and rhythm that works for me, in the moment. Thank you!
Cheering you onward. With gratitude & grace. Thank you for reflecting out loud, inviting us as readers to do so ourselves. Bowing to the Big Conversation we are all in.
This was such a good read. I’m not a 4am writer either. I’m more in line with what you do - write and rest. I do stretches after writing but you’ve made me want to add breathing work to the routine now. It sounds like such a good practice to calm my brain. And I do need to calm my brain sometimes, haha!
I think the writer’s life is so romanticized, but really it’s like any other work from home job, except you’re doing it because it’s what you love (even if not all the time). Loved this post about how you take care of yourself!
So much great advice and insight and inspiration and information here. I laughed at the Google intro ... I have been noticing so much in the last year or so how I turn to other people to tell me what I really need to be asking my own body and soul about. We know the answers - it's just super hard to turn off all of the other noise so we can hear them.
Thank you Kaitlin! I preordered the book so I can read it to my grandchildren.
This was soooo helpful to me. Thank you! 🤎 Also, I’m looking forward to the autumn poetry prompts so much!
Yes to snacks 😊 the key to excellent writing... Thanks for this piece, all helpful stuff!
