Hey friends!
Today’s word is kind of a made-up one, I confess, but it’s idea was intriguing to me, so I thought I’d run with it! I also enjoyed writing a poem from this prompt.
Can’t wait to see what it sparks in you!
Todays’ word prompt is un-love.
They say that
the opposite of love is hate,
but it’s actually un-love,
and it’s actually worse than hate
could ever be.
Un-love is the taking away of love,
when we knew it was there
and suddenly it’s not.
Hate can fester
where love was impossible,
taking up space.
Un-love is simply the void
where we once knew
something different, where
life flourished before we were
alone again.
Un-love is, perhaps, a curse.
Or, perhaps, it’s an opportunity
to fill a new space with the gift
of ourselves.
That, too, becomes love.
You un-love like others un-dress-
arriving back home from this week’s gala,
clashes of crashes in the sequined waves
falling from your shoulders, hairpins
dropping like a summer storm, high heels
soaring in arches, your heels grounding flat,
your audible return to the beginning
of choosing what to wear next.
Un-love
feels like love with
conditions
a love that says
you are not worthy
of the love given
a love that teaches
love is an outside
force that saves
Un-love
separates us from love
the core essence of our
being that connects
us with the Divine and
all Beings
that says you are me
and I am you
Un-love
says you need love
to become whole
to fix your brokenness
Love
says you are love
you are whole
you are not broken
Un-love calls you
outside of yourself
Love calls you
to return to Self
Un-love
is defined, constrained with
unchanging parameters
Love
is always expanding
always including
