It is a cold, cold day here in Pennsylvania, and for many of you, it’s even colder in some areas. Stay safe and warm, and as Dani reminds us in Winter’s Gifts, let the gifts of Mother Earth meet you where you are!
At the beginning of this year, I decided to try to read two books a week as I begin a new writing project. I’m already an avid reader, but when I know I have something to read toward, I get even more excited about what I’m learning.
My friend Katherine May recently shared some of the tools she uses to ease into a new writing project, and one of them was to keep a journal specifically for ideas, quotes, and other tidbits that relate to the project at hand.
It reminded me of my early days of writing, when I’d take my newborn to a coffee shop where my husband worked, snuggle up in a booth with one book and a journal, and simply read and reflect.
Those days are mostly gone, the laptop replaced the journal and one book became many, causing a bit of conflicting multi-tasking. I miss those days of single attention to a few thoughts, a few moments. I want a return to that.
