Friends,
I am so excited to announce that my THIRD children’s book, Spring’s Miracles, is HERE!
It is out today and I am so excited to share another story of Dani with the world!
This book was born out of so much of my own story, but it’s the story I’m living now, as an adult. Over the last few years I’ve been finding my own bravery, building a foundation of presence and movement and care into my life.
I often think, what if I had done this when I was young? How might my life be different?
I wanted Dani to have a sacred experience, not just with Mother Earth, outside, but outside on rocks, in a space where she would be challenged and she would find inspiration from the world around her.
At one point, she gets really nervous, worried she won’t make it to the top of her climb. But then she remembers:
Dani remembers talking to Sam last night. He was brave when they heard a noise outside.
She remembers how Grandfather Sun rises every day, no matter what it going on in the sky.
She remembers saying hello to Grandmother Moon when she comes up every evening. She is brave.
She remembers the flower she spoke to in the woods. Flowers bloom bravely when they wake up in spring.
Aren’t we all trying to get through our climb, scared we may not make it to the top, to the next level, to the next thing that we want to accomplish? And wouldn’t help if we could just pause, breathe, and look around at the world that holds us steady in the midst of it?
That’s what I want us to learn from this story. We are brave, just like Dani.
As I say with all of my children’s books, I hope that adults buy this book for themselves as much as for the kids in their life. Children’s literature is subversive, powerful, and it stretches across the boundaries and labels we give it.
Buy it for you, for your mom or brother or the neighbor next door.
See the earth—and yourself—with new eyes.
And if you want a little extra love, I recently shared a breathing exercise to go along with the book over on Instagram for #PotawatomiWednesday:
So friends, I have 3 asks today:
buy the book (preferably from an indie bookshop or PRH website if possible)
share about the book online and tag me if you can on Instagram or Facebook and of course right here on Notes
ask your local library to carry Spring’s Miracles
Thank you again for all the support, always. Stay tuned for some special events coming up in March & April!
Onward, into our bravery, to climb our climbs, and to celebrate the gorgeous world around us!
(And also PLEASE ACT TO SAVE OUR NATIONAL PARKS!)
Here is a good place to start.
Join your local organized groups, take action, protest, care for people’s souls, contact politicians and demand action. We are in this together.
Wonderful news! The world gets better each time an important book is born :)
Love this Kaitlin! Congratulations!
