4 Earth Haikus for the four directions:

You have gifted life

May we understand it all

Or at least give thanks

The seasons have changed

We welcome the earth anew

We begin again

There is too much good

We must stop and remember

That we belong here

Earth is our Mother

But we have forgotten her

What is forgiveness

Mother Earth teaches

processes of composting

and creating life

She teaches us much

on reciprocity and

healing together

Mother Earth teaches

us creative resistance

and paths to a new way

She reminds us now

of the need for boundaries

we can’t bare it all

Ode to Earth

You, a morning yawn in color-

You, a salt hairspray-

You, a start and finish line at the race-

You, a highway with the window down-

You, a walk-in freezer-

You, a tender friend at the doorstep-

joy blossoms at the mere sight of you,

a grounding in the soul.
