Can’t wait to see where you go with it.Photo by Rod Long on UnsplashText within this block will maintain its original spacing when publishedPerhaps I didn’t know how to care until Mother Earth showed me that every being is there to give and to take in sacred reciprocity, so that we are never truly alone.
I took a book
from my shelf
and I laid it
next to my bed
so when I wake,
I can open its pages
before anything
else is done or said,
so I can breathe
in the words
that someone wrote
with care,
and be greeted
with gentleness
as birdsong meets
morning air.
We say, "Take care,"
As if care can be grabbed from a hook by the door
Like a key.
Wherever you go,
Take care with you.
You won't get far without it.
